About the RCTA.

The Riverside Clay Tennis Association is a not-for-profit organization charged with the maintenance and operation of the public red clay tennis courts (Oscar Hijuelos Clay Courts) in Riverside Park along the Hudson River near 96th Street. The RCTA manages the courts on behalf of the Riverside Tennis Association, LLC, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Riverside Park Conservancy, a 501(c)3 organization, through the Conservancy’s licensing agreement with NYC Parks & Recreation

In addition to maintaining the courts and the surrounding park land, the RCTA is responsible for operating the courts and providing all tennis programs at the courts. The RCTA offers children and adult group lessons, private lessons, tournaments, tennis ladders, summer camp, as well as many non-tennis activities in the park such a free summer concerts, picnics and parties.

Currently, the RCTA has over 950 members and raises over $650,000 each year through membership dues, donations, court fees and program fees to fulfill its mission. Members do not having playing privleges over non-members.

RCTA's Board of Directors are appointed by the Riverside Park Conservancy to manage it's affiliate organization, the Riverside Tennis Association, LLC. (RTA). RTA employees a 5-person full-time staff, two part-time employees, and contracts with several independent tennis coaches and instructors. The RCTA depends heavily on a cadre of dedicated volunteers to assist with court sign-ups, gardening, web and design management and fundraising.

In addition to maintenance, operations, programming and administrative staffing, RTA funds go toward the purchase of maintenance equipment, vehicles and all court necessities and amenities, such as nets, lines, nails, brooms, brushes, windscreens, hoses, and benches.
